Goldberg & Rodler, Inc.’s Green Statement
Trees, soil and water are among our most basic and powerful green utilities. Their ability to improve the function of the spaces we use is enormous. At Goldberg & Rodler, Inc. we feel that being a “Green” company involves the following methods we apply to our landscape designs and to the projects that we install and maintain.
1. “Right Plant, Right Place” philosophy:
a. Goal of using native and lower maintenance plants that will require less pruning, less fertilizer and less irrigation.
b. Using plant selections that are less likely to require heavy spraying and fertilizer in order to achieve strong landscape performance.
c. We use organic compost to prepare planting area before planting and organic slow release fertilizers at time of planting for lowest impact on the environment but greatest effect on the plant health and growth.
d. We have a service to protect the plants for the winter where they are mulched with organic horse manure to protect from desiccation and frost heaving.
2. Tree Care Company – Using Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Programs to Maintain Healthy Landscapes.
a. Pesticides are used as a last resort. We are using fewer chemicals and more organic and environmentally safe products.
b. Installing lower maintenance and more native landscapes that are less dependent on pesticides and fertilizer.
c. Promoting plant health care programs to the public. Proper pruning of plants and scouting for insect pests and disease problems to reduce unnecessary chemical usage and applications.
