The Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park is well known for the high standard of care that Northwell Health provides. The landscape design strategy was implemented with an equally high standard and performed with exceptional quality control every step of the way. The new campus connects all of the buildings, open spaces, and parking areas to support staff, patients and visitors. The main goal was to expand the therapeutic setting outdoors and to compliment the buildings’ characteristics while camouflaging utilitarian aspects of the site. The campus is a bustling environment at all hours of the day. Our task was to create a safe and efficient space for pedestrian and vehicular traffic to comingle. Welcoming places to sit and eat were incorporated into the revitalization of this greenspace as well as providing colorful plantings in every season.
